Hogarth Racing

As with so many racing drivers, competing at club level or professional they get started by karting at a young age.

My experience was no exception; Kart racing in my teens (which is too long ago to remember clearly) was also my first foray into motor-sport. Direct drive class 1 to start, followed by gearbox karts.

After a couple of decades with no racing, the next move was into sprinting and hill climbing. The car principly used was a Caterham 7 JPE (Jonathan Palmer Evolution).

The engine, a 2.0 litre Vauxhall racing motor, was later turbo charged and a Quaife sequential box added. At 300+ BHP and weighing in at just over 500kg, it was incredibly quick!
Later we competed in the Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship (NSSCC) and the Ferrari Pirelli Open, in a Ferrari 355 Challenge car.

In 2006 we won the A1 class in the NSSCC.

At the end of 2006 we acquired the ex-Ford Prodrive Mondeo which competed in the 2000 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and had been in storage for almost 2 years prior to acquisition (see car section).

2007 has been a massive learning curve with the conversion from racing a rear wheel drive to a front wheel drive car. We also missed the front end of the season with engine rebuilds and resolving some technical issues. We now look forward with anticipation to the 2008 season.
